Benchmarks: Increasing appetite for temp-to-perm conversions?

Declining temp-to-perm conversion fees combined with the tight labor market in North America are likely to lead to growing interest from buyers in converting temps to traditional employment status. We asked staffing companies in North America to indicate how much they typically charge when a temp converts to a traditional position. The median average temp-to-hire conversion fee (as a percent of salary) across the 382 respondents was 10%. This compares to the median direct hire fee reported as 20% of salary, the same rate charged since at least 2011. Temp-to-hire fees appear to have declined compared to 2009, when the median temp-to-hire conversion fee was 16%-20%.
