In a recent survey, we asked contingent workforce program managers, “Based on your understanding of your organization’s position today, how do you anticipate use of the following worker types changing during the second half of 2020?”

Across all nonemployed worker types, participants reported a net reduction in use of more than 25%.

Temporary agency workers are the group showing the greatest predicted volatility in use, with the greatest number of respondents forecasting both an increase (26%) and a decrease (56%) in use.

This volatility reflects the way in which temporary agency workers are typically utilized. Respondents to SIA’s 2019 Workforce Solutions Buyer Survey indicate flexibility as the number one reason for choosing contingent labor.
