The US labor participation rate in June for those 25 to 54 years old was 82.0%, up from below 81% in 2015, but below pre-recession levels of 83%. Also last month, US unemployment rate ticked up to 4.0% in June from 3.8% in May, driven by a surge in the labor force of 601,000 people. Given the dearth of qualified talent, drawing people back into the labor force will be important for continued job growth.
