Business groups seek guidance on vaccine incentives

Businesses looking to incentivize workers to get the Covid-19 vaccine when it becomes available to them are seeking guidance from the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission on what is permissible, Bloomberg Law reports [1].

The groups requested in a letter [2] last week for the workplace civil rights agency to weigh in as employers offer financial perks like extra pay and bonuses to workers who get vaccinated.

Legal concerns include whether offering perks or bonuses could be considered a form of coercion. Discrimination concerns also come into play as some may not be able to get the vaccination for medical reasons, according to Bloomberg Law [1].
