Start 2018 right: Resources to achieve program success

We’ve just drawn the curtain on another year, and many of you took time to reflect on your successes and struggles — often as part of a mandatory self-review process. You probably worked out a few goals for 2018 as a result [1]. Now that the new year is here, it is time to implement those goals.

Moving forward and implementing your program goals can be a daunting, but there are a few ways to get targeted, strategic, expert help. For just about any workforce solution challenge, Staffing Industry Analysts has a tool to help guide you. Let’s look at some of the many resources my colleagues have developed that can keep you informed on the key elements that drive workforce solutions strategy today.

Artificial intelligence. Perhaps no other technology has more acutely captured the attention of the talent acquisition world than artificial intelligence. This underlying technology powers everything from job recommendations and résumé parsing to chatbots and everything in between. As the complimentary Artificial Intelligence and Talent Acquisition: Beyond the Hype [2] report reveals, this is just the beginning of what’s coming.

Webinars. Staffing Industry Analysts produces complimentary webinars throughout the year to provide the most up-to-date information available to help you run your program. In our first webinar of the year on Jan. 11, By the Numbers: 2017 Insights from SIA Survey Data [2], our SIA advisory team will discuss what it takes to build a solid support infrastructure for your CW program in 2018.

Total talent management. Total talent management is a major evolutionary step in workforce procurement and presents huge challenges to organizations that are accustomed to dealing with their work requirements in silos. Our complimentary Total Talent Management [3] report is the first global survey on this topic and clarifies the perceptions and difficulties to be found in embarking on a total talent management approach. It is invaluable for those seeking a more proactive and holistic approach to their workforce challenges.

Benchmarking. Find out what your are peers doing and how they propel their programs forward. The Workforce Solutions Buyers Survey 2017 – Americas – Cumulative Report [4] delves into trends and strategies in contingent workforce management to enable you to benchmark your program. This in-depth report includes data from annual surveys dating back to 2009 and can be a useful tool when speaking to your executives about what other companies are doing.

Recruitment process outsourcing. RPO is gaining traction in the ecosystem. Find out why and how your peers have benefited from it in the RPO Market Developments [5] report:

VMS and MSP. While vendor management systems and managed service programs are often intertwined, they are different markets. Staffing Industry Analysts provides a deep look into each with a dedicated analyst and yearly updated reports on both VMS and MSP. See capabilities, geographic reach and more for the leading VMS technologies in the market today in the VMS Market Developments (Consolidated) [6] report; its sister report, MSP Market Developments (Consolidated) [7], provides the best overview of the managed service program players and recent developments. These are must-read reports for anyone who has a VMS or MSP in place or is exploring implementing either or both.

Sourcing automation. Sourcing automation is here, and the role and way sourcing is used is changing for staffing. Could the day-to-day role of a sourcer be completely automated in five years? Find out this as well as costs and more in this Introduction to Sourcing Automation Technologies [8].

Segment reports. Our analysts track all major staffing markets to understand where demand is high and talent is scarce. Use these reports to help keep your program prepared for market fluctuations that might affect your program and talent pool. Two of the most recent reports cover engineering staffing [9]and clinical/scientific staffing. [10]

Blockchain. The newest term in our Lexicon, blockchain is a distributed, decentralized ledger technology that enables users to authenticate information, determine ownership, transfer assets or create contracts without the aid of a governing intermediary. Bitcoin is a prime example of the use of blockchain, though the technology has vast reach, including into the contingent workforce ecosystem. Released last month, The Impact of Blockchain in Talent Acquisition [11] report explores various initiatives with direct application to talent acquisition.

Lexicon. As in any business market, the workforce solutions ecosystem is an overflowing alphabet soup of industry-specific terms. The complimentary Lexicon of Global Workforce-Related Terms [12] is the essential guide to the various terminology and acronyms used within the ecosystem. Whether you are confused by MSP, VMS, RPO, ATS, FMS, and HRO; whether you want to know the difference between a CDD and a CDI, enter negotiations for a CLA, or hire a TAW; whether you are new to this environment or a seasoned practitioner, you will find the Lexicon to be a tremendous tool as it covers a broad range of international terms. It is updated throughout the year to include any emerging terminology in the market and can be shared with your team and suppliers.
