A federal judge has dismissed the trucking industry’s legal challenge to California’s rules for independent contractors, the Sacramento Business Journal reports .
The lawsuit, led by the Western States Trucking Association, had sought to make truckers exempt from the rules established in the legal case known as the Dynamex decision . The trucking association’s case was thrown out last week by the US District Court for the Eastern District of California.
The association said it intends to appeal. “We’re committed to legally taking [the case] as far as it needs to go,” up to the US Supreme Court if necessary, said Joe Rajkovacz, director of governmental affairs and communications with the association.
The California Trucking Association is also fighting the Dynamex ruling in a separate case .
