Many businesses in the UK are on edge as politicians struggle over a possible final deal on Brexit. In an interview with Senior Managing Editor Craig Johnson, SIA’s John Nurthen discusses the possible fallout on the workforce solutions ecosystem. The interview took place Jan. 18.

Recent developments. Following a Parliament vote Tuesday night, Prime Minister Theresa May will return to the EU to try to re-negotiate the Irish back-stop over the next two weeks. The Irish back-stop is a “legally-binding insurance policy to ensure there is no hard border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland,” regardless the outcome of future trade talks between the UK and the EU, according to CNBC.

Parliament also voted to against the prospect of a no deal, though that vote is not legally binding, Nurthen said.
