Two bills stemming from the California Supreme Court’s Dynamex ruling that changed independent contractor classification standards in the state have been introduced for the state’s 2019/2020 legislative session, City Watch reports.

One, introduced by Democratic Assembly Member Lorena Gonzalez Fletcher, seeks to codify the ruling that changed the independent contractor classification standards in the state. The other, introduced by Republican Assemby Member Melissa Melendez, would require a determination of whether a person is an employee or an independent contractor to be based on a specific multifactor test, including whether the person to whom service is rendered has the right to control the manner and means of accomplishing the result desired, and other identified factors.
