Court: Lawful permanent residents are ‘American Workers’

A federal judge ruled last week that lawful permanent residents are “American workers” who are protected by the Immigration and Nationality Act, reports Bloomberg BNA. The judge reconsidered an earlier decision suggesting that only US citizens are considered “American workers” under the law, excluding green-card holders.

In the case, the Hispanic Affairs Project submitted evidence that some of its members are lawful permanent residents, and that was enough to allow it to continue with the lawsuit representing Hispanic sheepherders and livestock workers. Read more about the case at Bloomberg BNA [1].
