Judge approves Riot Games’ $100 million sexual discrimination settlement

Riot Games’ $100 million sexual discrimination and harassment settlement announced in December 2021 was approved last week by a California judge, Axios reported [1].

The computer game maker agreed in December [2] to pay more than $100 million to settle allegations of sex discrimination and harassment that involved 1,065 female employees and 1,300 female contract workers.

As part of the settlement, Riot Games will implement three years of oversight at the company, including the appointment of an independent monitor to investigate any pay disparities, with Riot required to act on its findings.

Riot also will hire up to 40 of its qualified female temporary workers for full-time roles in its engineering, art design and quality assurance departments.

The parties had agreed to settle for $10 million in 2019 before California’s Department of Fair Employment and Housing objected to the deal.
