The American Staffing Association and the US Occupational Safety and Health Administration released a safety video addressing the role of staffing buyers in ensuring temporary worker safety.

The video features Assistant Secretary of Labor David Michaels and ASA General Counsel Stephen Dwyer.

“Host employers need to treat temporary workers as they treat existing employees,” Michaels said. “Temporary staffing agencies and host employers share control over the employee, and are therefore jointly responsible for temp employee’s safety and health. It is essential that both employers comply with all relevant OSHA requirements.”

The ASA and OSHA have a formal alliance to enhance temporary worker safety and jointly produce safety-related resources.
