Overtime wage hike closer to being undone

The US Department of Labor took a step toward a possible reversal of the Obama Administration’s overtime rule, which lifted the salary level below which workers were to be paid for overtime, NPR reports [1]. The step comes in the form of a formal request for information on the rule from the White House Office of Budget and Management.

The Obama Administration initially proposed the rule in July 2015. It was to have gone into effect Dec. 1, 2016, but was blocked by a federal judge less than two weeks prior. The case has stalled in the courts as the Trump Administration evaluates its stance on the issue.
