Over five years, starting in 2017-2018, the government of Canada will provide CAN$279.8 million to support the Temporary Foreign Worker Program and the International Mobility Program, writes immigration attorney Ronen Kurzfeld. An additional CAN$49.8 million per year will be provided afterward.

Both programs aid the entry of foreign workers to Canada. The former grants workers to fill labor shortages in job markets where permanent residents or Canadian citizens are not available, while the latter improves Canada’s cultural and economic interests.
